This MATLAB simulation project explores popular speed control methods like Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) and voltage control. VFDs adjust the frequency of power supplied to the motor, allowing precise speed control and energy efficiency. On the other hand, voltage control, although less efficient, adjusts the motor’s speed by varying the voltage.
Additionally, we’ll dive into pole-changing and rotor resistance control methods. Pole-changing alters the motor’s speed by changing the number of poles in the stator winding, providing discrete speed settings. Rotor resistance control, primarily used in wound rotor induction motors, introduces external resistance into the rotor circuit, enabling wide-ranging speed control. This project will provide a comprehensive understanding of these techniques through practical MATLAB simulations.
