Inverters are very useful circuits in power electronics to convert DC Power to AC Power. Inverters are widely used in several home application such as UPS development and industrial applications in Power Drives, Variable voltage and frequency drives, Renewable Energy Systems,VSC designs in Power Systems etc.
Types of Power Electronics Inverters
There are different types of inverters
- Single phase inverters
- Three phase inverters
- Multilevel inverters
When scholars looking to implement multilevel inverter projects, there are broadly two categories in multilevel inverters:
- Symmetrical multilevel inverters
- Asymmetrical Multilevel inverters
In simple words systematical inverters V1=V2=V3….Vx, whereas in asymmetrical inverters all,V1,V2,V3 are not equal. Meaning V1, V2,V3 are voltages given to cascaded multilevel inverter. Asymmetrical inverters are meant to offer low number of switches when compared to symmetrical inverter for same number of multilevel inverter output, example: major difference in designing five level asymmetrical inverter is the number of switches less, when designed 5 level symmetrical inverter. Multilevel Inverter Hardware Project implementation example shown in the following experimental setup.
Right way to get stared implementing inverters is the develop a model based design on Matlab and analysis the switching pattern and current flow in the circuit and test it out, once multilevel inverter MATLAB simulation project is perfectly fetching 5 step output then implement the same on Hardware setup.
At Chieftronics Pro we offer best electrical engineering projects for students, our team is well experienced in implementing and guiding students on multilevel inverter simulation projects and multilevel inverter Hardware Projects.
